A good quality mid-Victorian silver beaker in 17th. century German style with a flared rim and reeded overhung girdle on a collet foot, decorated with a foliate freize and bosses in an orange peel serround. Gilded interior. Engraved with a crest of an armoured arm raising a sword and a contemporary military presentation inscription dated 1859. The rim purposely distressed to represent an early 17th. century example. 8.5 cm. high. 144 grams. Made in London 1859 by David & Charles Houle. Excellent condition.
