Silver Chatelaines

N.682: A late Victorian 5 chain silver chatelaine composed of 2 pierced hanging panels and hinged belt clip made by H. Matthews in Birmingham 1900, with the following fittings by various makers: spectacles case, 6.8 inches long 1898. Scissors in silver fitted case 1898. Silver pencil 3.5 inches long and silver aide memoire containing 3 ivory leaves 3 inches long, both 1899. A silver mounted fruit knife and button hook, 2.5 inches long, 1899. 2 pieces with crest and latin motto "certavi et vici"( I have fought and conquered). £600.

 

M.52 Victorian Silver Chatelaine       

M.52: A Victorian silver chatelaine with 4 chains, the pierced silver 3 tier clasp decorated with cherubs harvesting grapes (click here for detail). The 4 attachments consisting of a silver needle/bodkin case with pull off cover, a heart shaped silver perfume flask embossed on both sides with scenes of a young gallant serenading 2 maidens in a garden, hallmarked 1904,  (click here for detail) a silver scissors case, decorated with lilly of the valley hallmarked1900 and a silver tape measure case containing original steel tape.

16 inches long, fully hallmarked for London 1888. £700.

 

M.53 Victorian Silver Chatelaine        

M.53: A  late Victorian silver chatelaine with 7 silver chains, the two tier clasp pierced with masks and scenes of winged cherubs playing musical instruments. The chains with the following attachments: An ovoid shaped silver perfume flask embossed with foliate decoration, hallmarked 1902 a silver stamp case in the form of an envelope, a decorative silver whistle, hallmarked 1874, chain 4 has no attachment, a silver plated thimble case in the shape of an acorn containing a steel thimble, a silver mounted triangular pin cushion, and a pencil in a silver sliding case.

15 inches long, made in London 1900 by William Commnys . £750.
